AI web design means handing the first design decisions to a model. From a brief it picks the layout, type pairing, colours, imagery and draft copy, and a person then refines the result. Some tools stop at a mockup; Mobirise AI goes on to a working site you can edit.

Search for an AI web designer and you will meet two kinds of product that look alike in demos but deliver different things. One gives you pictures and files for someone else to build from; the other gives you pages that already work.
Design-only: wireframes, mockups, Figma files

What an AI web design generator decides for you
A generated design bundles six choices. Telling them apart shows what belongs in the prompt and what is faster to correct in the editor.
Layout and section order
The AI picks the sections and their sequence: hero, services, proof, prices, contact. In Mobirise you drag blocks into a new order, delete extras, repeat one with Clone Block, or ask the chat for a new section.
Type pairing
It chooses a heading font, a body font and the size steps between them. Swap either in the Style Editor, which offers extra fonts, and pick an H tag for every title to keep the outline logical.
Colour palette
It settles on a main colour, an accent and the backgrounds. If the palette feels wrong, name the colours you want in chat, deep green on off-white for example, or reset one block's background in its parameters.
Imagery

Spacing rhythm

It writes headlines and paragraphs in the voice your prompt suggests. State the tone up front, then edit the text in place: the AI cannot know your prices, hours or client names.

Three ways to brief the generator: words, a sketch, a screenshot
Words are the quickest start: one or two sentences about the business, in whatever language you write. The AI then chooses the structure.
A sketch helps once you know the shape of the page. Boxes on paper for a header, a large opening image, three service cards and a form describe structure more precisely than a paragraph.
A screenshot suits a redesign. Mobirise has no importer for sites made elsewhere, so capture the old pages and let the generator rebuild them as editable blocks. Whatever the input, you compare four drafts, and Regenerate brings more without spending a generation.
- Name the audience and the action. "Family dentist in Leeds, new patients book online" says far more than "dentist website".
- List the sections you need. A generator usually follows a short list more faithfully than a long description.
- Label every box in a sketch. Write "gallery" or "price list" inside it and photograph the sheet straight on in good light.
- Use references you have the right to use. Your own old site is fine; another company's design is for inspiration only.
- Check every fact the AI wrote. Generators fill gaps with plausible details, so type in your real prices, addresses and names.

Will my AI-generated design look like everyone else's?

Can I edit the code of an AI-generated design?
Yes. The site is Bootstrap 5 markup in HTML, CSS and JavaScript files. The Code Editor extension, part of every paid plan, opens block and page markup and styles for editing; without it you still set spacing, backgrounds, columns and visible elements in each block's parameters. Can I export an AI design to Figma?
Mobirise produces a website rather than a design file, so it is the wrong choice if a Figma file is the deliverable. Relume exports its wireframes and designs to Figma, and Google's Stitch can paste designs into Figma. With Mobirise, the handover is the site itself or its exported files.
What counts as one AI generation?
Every generation is spent on one page or on a draft of the whole site, and you get four designs to compare. Asking Regenerate for extra variants takes nothing from the allowance, which refills every month on all plans.
Can I use AI-generated designs for client work?
Yes. Both personal and commercial projects are allowed, even on the free plan, and paid plans drop the Mobirise branding. The desktop app uploads by FTP, publishes to GitHub Pages, or writes the files to a local folder for you to hand over.
