What you do

Stack prepared blocks, replace the placeholder copy and add your pictures. Each block's settings decide padding, background, visible items and column count; nobody types a tag.

What you get

Static pages: .html files with their CSS and JavaScript, on Bootstrap 5. All blocks are responsive, so one file adapts from a small phone up to a wide monitor.

Cost

The app is free to use, commercially too, and bundles a basic theme with 200+ blocks. For $149 a year, KIT unlocks the premium library (220+ themes and extensions) and removes the Mobirise badge.

Getting the files

No charge in the desktop app, which publishes the complete site to a local folder of your choice. The browser builder's Site Export needs BASE or GROW.

Touching the code

With a paid plan, the Code Editor extension opens any block, or the page as a whole, so you can change its HTML and CSS.

Where it runs

Windows 7 or later: MobiriseSetup.exe (~105 MB). macOS from 10.13 High Sierra: an Apple Silicon or an Intel .dmg (~134 MB each). Debian-based Linux such as Ubuntu: a .deb (~102 MB). Version 6.1.12; the same engine also opens in a browser.

Hosting

Your existing server over FTP or FTPES, a GitHub Pages repository, or a mobirisesite.com subdomain with HTTPS at no cost (three sites on the free plan).

Not the best fit for

Reworking HTML that another tool produced. Only Mobirise projects load in Mobirise.

A card fills the width of a phone and a quarter of the row from Bootstrap's lg breakpoint (992 pixels) upwards, so the four cards line up on a laptop and stack on a phone.

The block design, its theme, and a class no other block has. Under that class, mbr-additional.css sets padding-top and padding-bottom of 5rem, a dark background and a bottom border: the kind of values the block settings control.

mbr-fonts-style display-4

A text style shared across the site. Here display-4 sets the Geist font at 0.875rem, plus a fluid size rule for narrow screens.

Marks the section as Bootstrap 5 markup. The icon's colour is written inline, and its glyph comes from the Mobirise icon font.

Not minimal: blocks also carry wrappers that exist only for the look, like the border elements trimmed here. The Bootstrap builder page goes deeper into how blocks use the grid.

The files the same demo loads, read from the paths in its HTML; other themes may use slightly different folders.

A search for an HTML page builder returns several kinds of software. The practical split: a folder you can put on any server, or a page that lives inside a platform.

Desktop builders, code editors and one AI generator, compared on what matters when the HTML is the goal: the framework, access to the code and where the files can go. Rows where another tool wins are left in.
